HABIGANJ, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed and another seriously injured in a road accident on the Habiganj-Shayestaganj road in Sadar upazila here last night.

The deceased was identified as Payel Gop, 23, son of Bhanu Gop of Narayanpur village under Habiganj Sadar upazila. The injured, Vishal Gop, is currently undergoing treatment.

The accident occurred around 10:30 pm in Ratanpur area when the motorcycle, traveling from Shaistaganj to Habiganj town, hit a standing tractor after its rider lost control of the bike.

Locals rescued them and sent them to Habiganj Modern Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Payel Gop dead upon arrival.

Vishal Gop, who sustained serious injuries, was later referred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Delwar Hossain of Habiganj Sadar Police Station confirmed the incident.
