JAMALPUR, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS)- A child was killed and three others including his mother were injured in a road accident in Madarganj upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Zahin, 8, son of Mamunur Rashid in Balizuri Bazaar area under the upazila.

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, the accident occurred when a tractor coming from opposite direction ran over a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in fire service Mor area around 8:30 am as Bithi Begum,35, [Zahin's mother] along with others were coming Madarganj from Jamalpur town on boarding it, leaving injured all its [auto-rickshaw] passengers. 

Later, the wounded were rushed to Madarganj Health Complex where the attending doctor declared Zahin dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madarganj Police Station Khandakar Shaker Ahmed confirmed.

Police detained the ill-fated vehicles, the OC added.
