RAJSHAHI, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) - A youth was held with ammunition during a search of a passenger bus on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway in the Baneshwar area of Puthia upazila on Wednesday.

The arrestee was identified as Dulal Mia, 38, son of Ayub Ali of Pachchouka area under Shibganj Police Station in Chapainawabganj district.

The arrest was made by a team of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), Rajshahi, led by Deputy Director Md Mehidi Hasan, based on a tip-off.

According to DNC sources, the operation was conducted Wednesday afternoon at Shibpur Kolahata area of the upazila. During the operation, a passenger bus named "Ekota", travelling from Chapainawabganj to Dhaka, was stopped and searched.

During the search, 24 rounds of pistol ammunition were recovered from the possession of the accused. As he failed to produce any valid documents in support of carrying the ammunition during preliminary interrogation, he was detained.

A case was lodged with Puthia Police Station in this connection, and the detained person along with the seized ammunition was handed over to police, Officer-in-Charge Md Faridul Islam said.
