First-ever law fair in Ctg offers free legal aid

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 4, 2026 (BSS) - A day-long law fair was held for the first time at Nazir Uddin High School in Chandhanish Sadar upazila, Chattogram, to commemorate the birth anniversary of late lawyer Advocate Badiul Alam.

The event, organized by the Bangladesh Human Rights Foundation (BHRF) and Salma Adil Foundation (SAF), aimed to provide free legal aid to marginalized communities and raise public awareness about justice and legal rights.

A large number of human rights lawyers participated, offering free legal consultations. Notable attendees included Advocate Zia Habib Ahsan, Secretary General of BHRF; Advocate Syed Mohammad Harun, Trustee Board Member and Secretary of City Branch; Advocate HM Jasim Uddin, Secretary of Chattogram District Branch; Advocate Jannatul Naeem Rumana, President of Chawkbazar Branch; Advocate Hasan Ali, President of Baghaichhari Branch; Advocate Badrul Hasan, Secretary of Senbag Thana Unit; Panel Lawyer Advocate Rumana Yasmin Soma, Secretary of Bayezid Thana Branch; Advocate Kashif Mahfuz Shantanu Chowdhury, and Advocate Khushnud Raisa Ushika, Secretary of Rauzan District Branch.

Specialist lawyer Hasan Al Banna, known for his expertise in survey and land measurement law, provided legal guidance during the fair. 

He was joined by human rights and good governance activist Ridwanul Karim Nabil, BHRF Student Council Trustee Board Member and Director Fatima Zahra Ahsan Raisa, and South District Student Council President Rajib Rifat.

The Salma-Adil Foundation, a public welfare organization, took a leading role in organizing the fair, supported by the Chandanaish Student Council for legal awareness initiatives. Senior members of the Chattogram Bar also attended the event.

Founders of the Salma Adil Foundation, Ziauddin Adil and Lion Salma Adil MJF, were present and expressed hope that such initiatives will continue to strengthen legal awareness, access to justice, and human rights protection for marginalized communities across Bangladesh.
