BAGERHAT, Feb 3, 2026 (BSS) - Election enthusiasm is steadily growing in the Bagerhat-3 (Rampal-Mongla) constituency ahead of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections, as a large public meeting in support of the Sheaf of Paddy symbol was held in Rampal Upazila this afternoon.

The meeting was organized by Gaurambha Union BNP and its affiliated organizations and took place at the Gaurambha School ground. BNP-nominated candidate for Bagerhat-3, Lion Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam, addressed the gathering as the chief guest.

Bagerhat District BNP Senior Joint Convener Kamrul Islam Gora, Rampal Upazila BNP President Hafizur Rahman Tuhin, General Secretary Altaf Hossain Babu, and other party leaders were present as special guests.

The venue witnessed a large turnout, with people from various professions and social backgrounds.

Voters of the coastal Rampal-Mongla region, which they said has long been deprived of development, expressed hope and anticipation as they await polling day on February 12.

Speakers at the meeting alleged that people in Rampal have suffered for a long time due to terrorist activities by the fallen fascist Awami League. They claimed that many BNP leaders and activists have faced attacks and legal cases, leaving some homeless. According to the speakers, business activities have declined, while fishermen, blacksmiths, potters, farmers, day labourers, and other groups are facing severe hardships. They also alleged that some educated youths lost their jobs due to political obstacles and intelligence agency reports.

In his address, Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam said that if elected, he would work to ensure employment opportunities for the people of Rampal-Mongla. He pledged to implement the Family Card, financial assistance, and loan repayment programmes announced by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, and vowed that the area would no longer remain neglected.

He urged party leaders and activists to remain active in the field until voting concludes and results are announced, calling on them to safeguard polling centres. He also appealed to voters from all communities-Hindus and Muslims, men and women, and first-time voters-to unite in support of the sheaf of paddy symbol.
