SYLHET, Jan 30, 2026 (BSS) - A two-day photo exhibition portraying the life and struggles of the late BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has begun in Sylhet on Thursday.
The exhibition, organized by Bogura Media and Cultural Society, was inaugurated by Miftah Siddiquee, Co-Organizing Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee last evening.
Addressing the event, Siddiquee said the exhibition is not an ordinary display but a visual document of Bangladesh's long-standing struggle to uphold democracy, independence, and sovereignty.
He noted that each photograph reflects the sacrifice, resilience, and steadfast leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia.
Siddiquee highlighted her role in leading movements for the anti-autocracy struggle, the restoration of democracy, the defense of national interests, and the establishment of voting rights. "Despite facing imprisonment, repression, and torture, she never bowed her head," he added.
He further said that Begum Zia's ideals form the foundation of BNP's politics, and the party will continue the struggle with unity in the upcoming elections to secure victory under the "Sheaf of Paddy" symbol.
The event was chaired by Dr. Shamimur Rahman, Convener of the Combined Professionals Council of Sylhet, and moderated by Professor Md. Monirul Islam and Raihan H. Khan.
Rezaul Hasan Koyes Lodi, Acting President of Sylhet Metropolitan BNP; Imdad Hossain Chowdhury, General Secretary of Sylhet Metropolitan BNP; Professor Mohammad Iqbal, Sylhet Division Coordinator of Ziaur Rahman Foundation; former SUST VC Professor Dr. Siddiqueul Islam; ABAC Sylhet Convener Professor Mozammel Haque; Professor Dr. Shahnewaz Chowdhury of the Women's and Children's Rights Forum Sylhet; and poet and performance artist Saleh Ahmed Khosru joined the inauguration as special guests.
