RANGAMATI, Jan 29, 2026 (BSS) - A seminar titled "Research, Innovation and Patent" has been held at Rangamati Science and Technology University (RMSTU) with a view to accelerating and strengthening the university's research, innovation and patent-related activities.
The seminar was organized on Wednesday by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university at the conference room of Administrative Building-1.
RMSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Atiyar Rahman presided over the seminar, while Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) Dr Muhammad Imadur Rahman attended as the keynote speaker.
Teachers from the departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Management, Forestry and Environmental Science, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Fisheries and Marine Resources Technology participated in the seminar.
Addressing the seminar, the Vice-Chancellor described the event as timely and significant, noting that research, innovation and patents have become crucial in the modern knowledge-based world.
He emphasized that universities must focus on protecting intellectual property to remain competitive globally and expressed hope that RMSTU would make a notable contribution in this area in the future.
In his keynote address, Dr Muhammad Imadur Rahman presented both theoretical and practical insights on patent awareness, intellectual property protection, and ways to transform innovative ideas into startups and industrial ventures.
Among others, Acting Registrar and Associate Professor of the Management Department Mohammad Junaid Kabir, Additional Director (ETL) of IQAC and Associate Professor of Forestry and Environmental Science Department Dr Md Abu Taleb, Additional Director (QA) of IQAC and Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department Dr Tanzim Mahmud, and Deputy Registrar (Academic) Mahbub Ara were present at the seminar.
