LALMONIRHAT, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered a foreign-made pistol, a magazine and a round of ammunition during a special operation in Lalmonirhat early Wednesday.
According to a press release issued by Lalmonirhat BGB-15 Battalion at noon, the operation was conducted around 3:00 am at Muniarchar Folimari near Mogalhat Border Outpost (BOP). The drive was led by the battalion’s commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Imam.
The recovered pistol and ammunition, which were found wrapped in polythene, have been handed over to Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station for further legal proceedings, the release said.
To ensure a secure and peaceful election environment, the battalion has planned to deploy 19 platoons of mobile and striking forces across five upazilas under three parliamentary constituencies in the district.
The BGB has also intensified patrols, surveillance and intelligence operations along the border to prevent illegal arms trafficking, smuggling of ammunition and drugs, and unauthorized infiltration.
