NETROKONA, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) - The Narcotics Control Department (NCD) arrested a youth with 10,220 pieces of yaba tablets during an anti-drug drive in Mohanganj upazila of the district early Wednesday.

The arrestee was identified as Md Sohel Rana, 22, son of Md Nurul Islam of Jadulaskar Annodanagar village under Pirgachha Police Station in Rangpur district.

The arrest was made between 5:50 am and 7:00 am from the Daulatpur Hospital Road area under Mohanganj Police Station.

Assistant Director of the District Office of the Narcotics Control Department Md Nazmul Haque said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the Divisional Detective Branch conducted the operation in front of Rahima Enterprise shop adjacent to Daulatpur Hospital Road around 550 am.

“During the drive, Sohel Rana was arrested red-handed along with 10,220 pieces of Yaba tablets,” he said.

A case under the Narcotics Control Act has been filed against the accused with Mohanganj Police Station, the official added.
