RANGPUR, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS) - The International Customs Day-2026 was observed
in Rangpur today.
Various programmes were initiated by the Rangpur Divisional Customs, Excise
and VAT Commissionerate to mark the day.
On this occasion, a seminar was held at the conference room of the 'Agamir
Chashi' Community Center located in the Kamal Kachna area of the city.
The seminar was presided over by Rangpur Divisional Customs, Excise and VAT
Commissionerate Commissioner Mohammad Shafiur Rahman.
President of the Customs, Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal Mohammad Lutfar
Rahman were present as the chief guest.
The seminar was addressed as special guests by Additional Commissioner of
Taxes of Tax Zone-Rangpur Md Mosharraf Hossain, Superintendent of Police of
Rangpur Range Police Muhammad Alamgir Hossain and Commanding Officer of
Rangpur 59 BGB Battalion Lt Col Selim Al Deen.
Also present from the business community were Emdadul Hossain, President of
Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Md Nurul Islam Patu, Senior Vice-
president of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and
Mohammad Abdul Jabbar, Executive Director of Uttara Export Processing Zone
(EPZ), Nilphamari.
The speakers said that the role of VAT and customs duty is immense in
accelerating the development and progress of the country.
To make the country self-reliant, it is important for every citizen to pay
VAT according to the correct rules.
They urged businessmen to pay VAT properly, saying that paying VAT is not a
burden, but rather a tool to strengthen the country's economic foundation.
Officials from various levels of the Customs and VAT departments, prominent
businessmen and media personnel were present at the event.
