Two held with 80kg ganja in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Jan 25, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-11 arrested two suspected drug peddlers and recovered 80 kilograms of ganja during an anti-narcotics operation in Palash upazila of the district last night.

According to RAB-11, the operation was conducted around 11:40 pm in Charnagardi Bazar area on the Panchdona-Charsindur road, based on secret information. During the drive, a black and yellow pickup truck was intercepted, from which the contraband was seized.

The arrested were identified as Md Kawsar, 27, the driver of the vehicle, and his assistant Md Maharam Ali, 26. Two button mobile phones were also recovered from their possession.

RAB officials said the ganja was being transported in a concealed manner, hidden inside a specially constructed compartment beneath a plane sheet on the pickup truck.

Narsingdi RAB-11 Camp Commander and Additional Superintendent of Police Md Ariful Islam said the arrested suspects were handed over to Palash Police Station on Sunday morning and would be produced before the court for further legal proceedings.
