750 polling officers trained in Bagatipara for 13th JS Election

NATORE, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 750 polling officers of Bagatipara upazila were trained today in preparation for the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum.

Deputy Commissioner Asma Shaheen inaugurated the training programme virtually at an inaugural ceremony held at the Upazila Parishad Hall Room in the morning.

Police Superintendent Mohammad Abdul Wahab and District Election Officer Md. Nazrul Islam addressed the ceremony, which was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Alauddin.

Later, a team led by Jenny Gustafsson and Voldemars Dudums, long-term observers of the European Union Election Observation Mission Bangladesh 2026, visited and inspected the training activities.

The training programme, organized at Bagatipara Government Pilot Model High School, included 45 presiding officers, 235 assistant presiding officers and 470 polling officers from different polling stations of the upazila.

District Election Officer Md. Nazrul Islam said the training covered key issues such as transportation and security of polling materials, arrangement of polling stations, vote casting and counting procedures, and preparation of election results.

The trained polling officers will perform their duties during the parliamentary election and referendum scheduled to be held on February 12.
