PIROJPUR, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - A court here on Monday sentenced six people to life imprisonment in a murder case filed over the killing of a man in Indurkani upazila of the district in 2015.
District and Sessions Judge Mujibur Rahman delivered the verdict, said Public Prosecutor of the court Abul Kalam Akon.
The court also fined each of the convicts Taka 10,000, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.
The convicts are Swapan alias Sohel Molla, 28, Quader Molla, 35, A. Rashid Molla, 70, Irani Begum, 25, Sufia Begum, 45, and Punnu Begum, 50, all residents of Chandipur union under Indurkani upazila of the district. Another accused, Rozina, was acquitted in the case.
Three other accused-A. Rob Molla, Mannaf Molla and Munsur Molla-died during the trial proceedings.
According to the prosecution, Abu Akon, 42, was murdered on October 22, 2015, in Chandipur village of Indurkani upazila following a long-standing land dispute. After the incident, the victim's brother, A. Jabbar, filed a murder case with the Pirojpur court.
