RAJSHAHI, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) - A discussion meeting and prayer program were 
held marking the 90th birth anniversary of the proclaimer of the Great 
Independence and former President Ziaur Rahman.
 
The program took place at the historic Bhuban Mohan Park in Rajshahi this 
afternoon.

The President of Rajshahi City BNP, Mamun Ar Rashid Mamun, addressed the 
event as the chief guest, while its General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, 
spoke as the main discussant.
 
Special guests who spoke at the event included Rajshahi city BNP Senior Vice-
Presidents Nazrul Huda, Aslam Sarkar, Waliul Haque Rana, Shafiqul Islam 
Shafik, and Zainal Abedin Shibli.
 
The discussion meeting was presided over by the Acting Convener of Rajshahi 
Metropolitan Jubo Dal, Shariful Islam Jony, and conducted by the Member 
Secretary, Rafiqul Islam Rabi.
 
On the occasion of the 90th birth anniversary of the proclaimer of the Great 
Independence, advocate of multi-party democracy, founder chairman of BNP, and 
former President Martyr Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam, a blanket distribution 
program was organized in the city on the initiative of former General 
Secretary of Rajshahi City Chhatra Dal, Khandaker Maksudur Rahman Sourav.
 
The General Secretary of Rajshahi City BNP, Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, was 
present as the chief guest at the event.
 
Others present included Acting Convener of Rajshahi Metropolitan Jubo Dal 
Shariful Islam Jony; Member Secretary Rafiqul Islam Rabi; Joint Conveners 
Nazir Hasan and Anarul Islam.
