CHATTOGRAM, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS)- Two persons were killed in separate road
accidents under different upazilas of the district today.
The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahman, a resident of South Alinagar in
Mirsarai upazila and Arif, son of Abdur Shukkur, hailed from Rahmatghona in
Uttar Madarsha Union under Satkania upazila of the district.
A pedestrian Abdur Rahman, 42, died after a gas cylinder-carrying vehicle
overturned in Mirsarai area this morning. The driver and helper were
seriously injured in the incident.
In another incident, a biker named Md. Arif, 19, died after falling off his
motorcycle and being hit by a truck in Fatiyabad area along the Chattogram-
Hathazari road this afternoon.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kumira Highway Police Station Zakir Rabbani
reported that a tragic accident occurred when a Chattogram-bound truck
carrying an LPG cylinder hit pedestrian Abdur Rahman and overturned on the
Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Mirsarai's Nizampur area around 7:30 am as the
driver lost control over its steering.
Rahman, also a visually impaired beggar, died on the spot and driver and
helper of the truck injured critically in the accident, he added.
Being informed, police rushed to the scene and recovered the body and the
injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital. Identities of
the wounded persons could not be known immediately.
On Monday around 10 am, a tragic incident occurred on the Chattogram-Oxygen-
Hathazari highway resulting in the death of a 19-year old biker named Md.
Arif, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raozan Highway Police Mohammad Ullah
confirmed.
He was thrown from his motorcycle and hit by a truck in front of Fatehabad
Girls High School in Chikandandi union of Hathazari upazila, the OC said,
adding, "Arif had accompanied his uncle Mamun to Nandirhat for a family event
and met with the accident on their way back. When a rickshaw toppled over,
Mamun braked suddenly causing Arif to fall onto the road where he was struck
by a passing truck heading towards the city."
The truck driver fled the scene after the collision. Arif was critically
injured and rushed to CMCH where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
