Month-long 4th flower festival kicks off in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 9, 2026 (BSS) - A month-long colorful flower festival was inaugurated on Friday at the green and water-filled Faujdarhat DC Park in the port city. 

Organized by the district administration for the fourth time, the festival will feature millions of flowers from around 140 species of domestic and foreign varieties.

Visitors on the first day of the festival were delighted by the captivating display of flowers at the DC Park near the Faujdarhat area on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah presided over the inaugural function, with Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Ehsanul Haque attending as the Chief Guest. Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin, Chattogram Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz, DIG Ahsan Habib Palash, and Police Superintendent Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan were also present as special guests.
 
This year, like in previous years, a variety of flowers are being displayed at the festival. Organizers have arranged a procession featuring over 140 species of local and foreign flowers throughout the month-long event.

The festival will take place from January 9 to February 8, with operating hours from 10 am to 8 pm daily. Cultural programmes will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm on the fairgrounds. 

Entry tickets cost Taka 50 per person and can be purchased at the ticket counter or online through the website https://dcparkchattogram.com/web/website.
 
The park covers 194 acres along the seashore and features a variety of colorful flowers such as dahlias, ganda, chrysanthemums, and roses. It showcases a diverse range of local and foreign flowers, highlighting biodiversity and nature conservation. 

Visitors can enjoy various amenities in the park, including a food court, seating areas, a selfie corner, event venues, a floating flower garden, walking paths, playgrounds, a VIP zone, a control room, a restaurant, and public toilets. There are also designated areas for sunset viewing, a tulip garden, and temporary play areas.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah highlighted that the park is embellished with 140 species of flowers in various colors like hollyhock, snowbuck, nasturtium, lily, dahlia, chrysanthemum, and tulips for the festival. He mentioned that cultural programs will be held daily during the month-long event, featuring performances by cultural groups from different districts and upazilas. Additionally, the festival will include rural festivals, pitha festivals, book festivals, and kite festivals as other attractions.
