Special security arrangements on 31st night celebration in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS)- Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), Rapid 
Action Battalion (RAB) and district police have taken up strict security 
measures to avert any untoward incidents centering on 31st night celebration 
marking the global New Year's eve, the end of the Gregorian calendar year.
 
Meanwhile, CMP commissioner Hashib Aziz told at a meeting of law and order at 
CMP headquarters recently said any kinds of unruly activities in the name of 
celebrating the New Year will not be tolerated and all types of outside 
programmes of cultural events have been prohibited on 31st night.

He disclosed that around 2,500 police and RAB forces will be deployed at 121 
points across the city including Patenga sea beach to check untoward 
incidents on the eve of the New Year.

CMP sources said they will also set up 32 check-posts in different strategic 
points in the metropolis.

However, indoor programs of the hotels and clubs are allowed to celebrate the 
31st night programme.

Assistant Commissioner, Aninur Rashid, senior police official of CMP said, 
check posts have already been setup in key points of the city from the night 
of December 30 for tightening the security measures.

Special check posts to be set up at all entry points - City Gate, Shah Amanat 
Bridge point, Kalurghat and Madunaghat bridge points to check the entry and 
movements of the suspected persons.

Around 800 police forces will be deployed in Patenga and Parki sea beach to 
avoid any nuisance and to resist the unsocial activities.

RAB members are kept ready to tackle any kind of unpleasant situation on the 
eve of the New Year, RAB and Police sources said.

RAB sources said they will deploy its 250 personnel in Chattogram to closely 
monitor the city areas.

Chattogram district police are on vigilance from December 30 by deploying 
over 1,550 police personnel at important places including all upazila 
headquarters on this occasion, district police officials said.

On the occasion, posh hotels and clubs in the city will arrange colourful 
programs including musical soiree, cultural programs, DJ party, arrangements, 
varieties of foods, fun functions for the kids, reunion of the friends and 
well-wishers at respective venues.

The Radisson Blu, Peninsula, Hotel Agrabad, St Martin, Tower Inn, Avenue 
Suites, Motel Shaikat have drawn up brisk programs on the occasion of the new 
year 2026.

CMP issued six specific guidelines for city residents for the 31st night 
celebrations to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.
 
The six guidelines are as follows; no gatherings, assemblies, or celebrations 
will be allowed on roads, flyovers, rooftops, or public spaces and open-air 
events, cultural programs, music, or dances to celebrate the New Year will be 
banned. Display of fireworks, crackers, and releasing of candle lit balloons, 
lanterns are strictly prohibited.

Visiting picturesque Patenga and Parki sea beaches will not be permitted from 
6pm on December 31 to 10 am on January 1. All licensed bars and liquor shops 
remain closed from 6pm on December 31 till 6 pm on January 1.

As per CMP guidelines, blowing of loud horns and reckless driving of cars or 
motorcycles are strictly restricted .Celebrations must adhere to social norms 
and cultural decorum. Activities eroding moral values must be avoided. 
Indecent behaviour and illegal activities are strictly prohibited.

Hotels are prohibited from renting spaces or rooms for DJ parties. Any 
activity disrupting public peace and order should be avoided.
