PIROJPUR, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 16 candidates from different
political parties and independent platforms have filed nomination papers for
the three parliamentary constituencies of Pirojpur district in the upcoming
13th National Parliamentary elections, according to the District Election
Office.
On the final day of nomination submission on Monday, BNP-nominated candidate
Principal Alamgir Hossain submitted his paper for Pirojpur-1 constituency
while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami nominated candidate Masud Sayedee submitted
his nomination paper for it.
For Pirojpur-2, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami nominated candidate Shamim Sayedee
filed his nomination paper to the Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer
Abu Sayed while BNP-nominated candidate Ahmed Sohel Manjur Sumon submitted
his nomination papers to the Bhandaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer for the
constituency.
Election officials said a total of 22 candidates had initially collected
nomination forms from the three constituencies. However, by the close of the
deadline, 16 candidates formally submitted their nomination papers.
In Pirojpur-1, five candidates collected nomination forms, but only two
ultimately submitted their papers.
In Pirojpur-2, out of eight candidates who collected forms, seven filed
nominations. Meanwhile, nine candidates collected nomination forms in
Pirojpur-3, of whom seven candidates submitted their nomination papers.
The Returning Officer's Office will now proceed with scrutiny of the
nomination papers in accordance with the election schedule.
