DINAJPUR, Dec 29, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 4,000 pieces of winter clothes,
including blankets, sweaters and jackets, were distributed among the nearly
extinct tribal Kara community and other indigenous families in Dinajpur's
Biral and Sadar upazilas on Monday.
The winter clothing was distributed by a voluntary organisation "Bhabna", in
collaboration with the Gulshan-Banani Sarbajanin Puja Foundation of Dhaka, as
part of their social responsibility initiatives.
Of the total, 2,500 pieces of winter clothes were distributed in the
afternoon at the premises of Kara Bhabna Pathshala in Jhenaikuri village
under Biral upazila.
The beneficiaries included families from the Kara, Urao and Pahan indigenous
communities living in Jhenaikuri, Tinpara and Achotia villages, as well as
students of the Kara Bhabna Pathshala.
The clothes were handed over by Executive Director of Bhabna Md Mustafizur
Rahman Rupam, Advisor and District Veterinary Officer Dr Ashika Akbar Trisha,
President of Dinajpur Satsang Bihar Kshitish Chandra Shil, Associate
Professor of General Surgery Dr Shiladitya Shil, Managing Director of Checkup
Specialized Hospital Kirtaniya Chhayachand, Assistant Professor of
Development Studies at HSTU Sajib Kumar Roy, General Secretary of Udichi
Shilpi Gosthi Dinajpur District Sujan Kumar De, General Secretary of Sadalap
Duryodhan Roy Durjoy, along with other social and cultural activists.
Meanwhile, the remaining 1,500 pieces of winter clothes were distributed
later in the day among cold-affected indigenous families in Ghughudanga
village under Dinajpur Sadar upazila.
