RANGPUR, Dec 26, 2025 (BSS)- Terming journalists as the conscience of society Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami ATM Azaharul Islam said they can play a supportive role in building a prosperous and enlightened nation.
He said this while exchanging views with local journalists at his residence in the Baluabhat area of Badarganj here today.
Azharul Islam, also party’s candidate from Rangpur-2 (Badarganj-Taraganj) constituency in coming election, said the government must create a fair electoral environment so that people can exercise their vote without any hindrance.
To this end, he urged the interim government to create a level playing field and a fair and impartial environment for all parties.
He assured that if elected Shyampur Sugar Mills will be reopened and provide employment to hundreds of unemployed youths.
In addition, he said that he will work to increase the number of beds and modernize the hospitals in Badarganj and Taraganj upazilas and improve the road communication.
ATM Azharul Islam said about Taka 27 lakh crore was smuggled abroad from Bangladesh during the previous fascist regime.
“With this money, extensive socio-economic development could have been done to make the country more advanced than Singapore,” he observed.
Jamaat-e-Islami wants to establish peace in the society. For this, it has nominated honest people across the country, he said.
He also called on everyone to encourage the people to vote for 'Daripala' symbol in the next Jatiya Sangsad elections.
Jamaat-e-Islami District Working Committee Member Moulana Abdul Hannan, Badarganj Upazila Ameer Muhammad Kamruzzaman Kabir, Nayeb-e-Ameer Shah Muhammad Rustam Ali, Upazila Secretary Moulana Mohammad Minhajul Islam, Badarganj Municipality Ameer Moulana Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, among others, were present.
