RANGPUR, Dec 23, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested three leaders and
activists of banned Awami League (AL) and its affiliates from Pirgachha
upazila and Rangpur metropolis under the Operation Devil Hunt (ODH) Phase-2
in the last 24 hours.
The arrestees include former Pirgachha upazila chairman and incumbent
Pirgachha upazila Awami League general secretary Abdullah Al-Mahmud Milon.
He is widely known as a confidant of former Commerce Minister and Member of
Parliament from Rangpur-4 (Pirgachha-Kawnia) constituency Tipu Munshi.
"We arrested Abdullah Al-Mahmud Milon today from his residence in Pirgachha
upazila," Pirgachha police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Muhibul Islam
told BSS tonight.
There are multiple cases against him on charges of assault, obstruction and
attempted murder during the anti-discrimination movement.
"After due legal process, Abdullah Al-Mahmud Milon was sent to jail through
the court this afternoon," the OC said, adding that he was also arrested by
the joint forces earlier and released on bail later.
Meanwhile, Rangpur Metropolitan police arrested two AL men Sanjay Kumar
Barman, 27, and Abdul Kader, 52, in special drives conducted at different
places of the metropolis under the Operation Devil Hunt (ODH) Phase-2 on
Monday.
There are several cases against them on various charges including assault and
attempt to murder during the anti-discrimination movement.
"We produced the two arrested persons before a Rangpur court from where their
sent to the jail," OC of Rangpur Metropolitan police station Md Ataur Rahman
told BSS tonight.
