MAGURA, Dec 23, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court conducted a drive at Nakol Bazar area under Sreepur upazila of the district today, uncovering multiple irregularities in shops selling daily necessities.
The operation, carried out from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm under the initiative of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department, Magura district office, monitored shops dealing in chicken, vegetables, oil, rice and other essential commodities.
During the drive, serious violations were found at M/s Jibanananda Store at Nakol Bazar. Officials seized a large quantity of expired baby food, chocolates and other products, which were reportedly being supplied to various shops in the village. The shop was also found to have failed to display price lists of daily necessities for the past nine months, sold food items in unhygienic conditions and operated with an expired trade license.
As a result, the owner of the establishment, Pramit Saha, was fined Taka 30,000. The seized expired products were destroyed by burning in public.
Assistant Director Sajal Ahmed, who led the campaign, said the main objective of such operations is to protect consumer rights, stressing that no irregularities would be tolerated. He also urged traders to sell goods at fair prices, display price lists properly and maintain hygienic storage of food items.
