GAIBANDHA, Dec 21, 2025 (BSS) - One UN Peacekeeper Sabuz Miah was laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard at Choto Bhagobanpur village under Palashbari upazila of the district this afternoon.
On December 13, six army men were killed in a drone attack by terrorist group while performing their duties as peace keepers under UN Peace keeping mission at Abeyei in Sudan. Of the deceased, Sabuz Miah’s house is in Gaibandha. He was working in the mission as Laundry attendant.
Around 2 pm today, his body was flown to Tulshighat helipad from Dhaka by a helicopter of Bangladesh Army. Then, the body was taken to his village home at Choto Bhagobanpur area by an ambulance. When the ambulance reached the home, a heart-wrenching scene ensued among the family members. A pall of gloom descended upon the village people.
Sabuz Miah’s family members received the body and took preparation for his burial. A second namaj-e- janaza was held on the yard and then he was buried in his family graveyard in the afternoon.
After talking to the family members it was learnt that Sabuz joined the Bangladesh Army as a laundry worker 8 years ago. He was the youngest among three siblings. He got married in Natore district a year ago. Three months ago, he came home on leave and joined the work place again. His mother and wife were staying in the village home.
