NARSINGDI, Dec 20, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested four drug traffickers along with 5.7 kilograms of ganja in two separate operations in Belabo upazila of the district.
According to police, acting on a tip-off, a team led by Sub-Inspector Arif of Belabo Police Station set up a checkpoint on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway near Darikandi Bus Stand Jame Mosque on Friday night. During the drive, police arrested two persons with 1.7 kilograms of ganja.
The arrestees were identified as Aslam, 42, of Kashinathpur village in Aminpur upazila of Pabna district, and Abdullah Al Mamun alias Shipon, 50, of Harihardee village under Sonargaon police station in Narayanganj district.
On the same day, in another operation, police arrested two more drug traffickers with 4 kilograms of ganja from in front of Labiba Bus Counter at Baraicha Bus Stand area of Belabo upazila.
They were identified as Sharif Ahmed, 20, and Md Shanto, 21, both hailing from Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Belabo Police Station SM Aman Ullah said two separate cases were filed under Belabo Police Station, and legal action was taken under Section 36(1)19(a) of the Narcotics Control Act.
All the arrestees were produced before a court and sent to jail this afternoon.
