BAGERHAT, Dec 19, 2025 (BSS) - A protest march was held here in the district today demanding the immediate arrest and trial of those responsible for the killing of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi. The march was organized under the banner of Revolutionary July Janata.
The procession began on Friday afternoon from the Old Court Mosque premises in the city, marched through several key streets and concluded at the same location.
The protest was attended by Central Organizing Secretary of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Mainul Islam, DUCSU executive member Belal Hossain Apu, Bagerhat district convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement S. M. Saddam, Bagerhat district president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Hafez Morshed Alam, Bagerhat district Chhatra Dal leader Al Mamun, along with leaders and activists from various political and social organizations.
During the march, participants chanted slogans such as "We will all be Hadis" and "Who are you and who am I -- Hadi Hadi."
At a brief rally following the procession, speakers said Sharif Osman Hadi was killed for speaking out against Indian hegemony and aggression. They alleged that the attackers had been monitoring him for a long time and carried out the killing deliberately.
The speakers demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice, regardless of where they are, and warned that the July fighters would continue their movement if immediate action is not taken.
They also claimed that members of the July uprising are currently facing threats to their lives and called for ensuring their safety.
Earlier in the day, following Friday prayers, a special prayer was held at the historic Shatgombuj Mosque in Bagerhat-along with similar prayers across the country-seeking forgiveness for the departed soul of Sharif Osman Hadi.
