Job-seekers abroad should acquire professional skills, learn language

RANGPUR, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) - Officials at a post-rally discussion today said that the job-seekers abroad should acquire work skills in relevant fields and learn the language of the respective country to get proper remuneration.
  

They expressed the view at the event organized by the district administration at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in observance of the International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day-2025.
 
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Ramiz Alam in the chair.
 
Deputy General Manager of Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited Most Nazmun Nahar, Principal of Rangpur Technical Training Center Sushanta Kumar Roy, Lecturer of History Department of Carmichael College Mohammad Saiful Islam, Assistant Director of District Employment and Manpower Office Md Nesharul Haque, Senior Vice-President and Zonal Head of Rangpur Zone of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, Md Matiur Rahman addressed the event as the special guests. 
 
The chief guest said that the contribution of expatriates to the national economy development is outstanding. “For this, it is very important to protect the rights of expatriates and ensure their welfare,” he said. 
 
Addressing the students, he said that most students, who go abroad for higher studies are engaged in various jobs along with education and research. 
 
There is a huge demand for skilled workers in various fields in the global market. But due to the lack of skilled human resources, it is not possible to send sufficient workers abroad. 
 
He urged those interested in going abroad to acquire language and professional skills by taking training through various government and private institutions. 
 
Later, crests and scholarship cheques were distributed among the families of the highest remittance senders. 
 
Before the discussion, a colorful rally to mark the day started from the Deputy Commissioner's office premises, circled the main roads of the city, and ended at the Town Hall. 
 
Then, a three-day migrant and job fair was inaugurated at the Town Hall grounds. The fair will open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm from December 18 to December 20, 2025.
