NARAIL, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) – International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day were observed in the district today.
To mark the day, the district administration, Technical Training Centre (TTC), and District Employment and Manpower Office jointly organised a rally that started from the DC Office premises at 10am and returned to the same place after parading the main roads of the town.
Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Lincon Biswas presided over the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Mohammad Abdul Salam was present as the chief guest, while Assistant Director of the District Employment and Manpower Office Md Abul Kashem delivered the welcome speech.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md Ahsan Mahmud Russel, Narail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) T M Rahsin Kabir, District Information Officer Md Rostam Ali, and Narail Press Club Vice-President Sultan Mahmood, among others, were present.
The speakers said around 15 million Bangladeshis are living abroad in 175 countries across the world. They noted that remittances sent by expatriates are increasing day by day and that expatriates are playing a vital role in strengthening the country’s economy.
They also said that if migrant workers go abroad after acquiring proper skills, they will be able to secure better remuneration, which will further boost remittance inflows.
