3,500 blankets distributed among children in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) - World Vision distributed 3,500 blankets among children of cold-stricken and underprivileged communities in the district on Thursday.

The distribution was held at 3:30 pm alongside a discussion meeting on child protection at the Shishu Academy auditorium on Mission Road in the town, organized by Dinajpur Area Programme (AP) of World Vision.

Speaking as the chief guest at the winter clothing distribution ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the District Local Government Department and Director Md. Riaz Uddin said that today's children are the future leaders of the country. "It is our collective responsibility to ensure their care, protection and to help build a better life for them," he added.

World Vision Dinajpur Area Coordination Office Senior Manager Sebastian Purification presided over the event. Among others, NDC Md. Faizur Rahman, Youth Forum Vice President Md. Al Momin, Treasurer of Tarunyar Swapna Youth Organization Tahmina Akhter Chumki and UNDC President Anwara Begum addressed the programme as special guests.

As part of its child care and protection initiative, World Vision provided winter coats and blankets to 3,500 children. Of them, 647 children were from Dinajpur Municipality, 791 from Auliapur union, 734 from Chehelgazi union, 720 from Sheikhpura union and 608 from Shashra union in Sadar upazila.

The programme was conducted by Asanta Marandi, Programme Officer of World Vision Dinajpur AP.
