SHERPUR, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) - The District Administration today conducted a
mobile court drive against illegal brick kilns in Sadar upazila and fined
four kiln owners a total of Taka 14 lakh and ordered permanent closure of
their operations.
The day-long raid was led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate
Shakil Ahmed. The action was taken against brick kilns operating without
clearance from the Department of Environment (DoE).
During the drive, each of the four kiln owners was fined Taka 3.5 lakh. The
brick kilns are Jihan Zigzag Auto Bricks at Sultanpur in Bajitkhila union,
M/S Moon Bricks at Kandipara in Mirzapur, M/S AH Bricks at Nouhata Mahalla
under Sherpur Municipality and M/S RUB Bricks at Tatalpur.
According to mobile court sources, several brick kilns have been operating
illegally in Sherpur Sadar, causing environmental harm and violating existing
regulations.
Sushil Kumar Das, inspector of the DoE, Sherpur District Office, prosecuted
the cases on behalf of the department.
Members of the army, police, fire service and representatives of the Power
Development Board assisted the district administration during the operation.
