BOGURA, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) - The district administration and the Department of Environment seized 26,000 kilograms of banned polythene during a joint drive conducted in the Kalitala area of the district town this morning.
A mobile court, operated by the district administration, the Department of Environment, and RAB-12, launched the raid around 10.30am and sentenced three individuals.
The accused were identified as Helaluzzaman, 45, of Atpara area of Bogura town, Rafiqul Islam, 40, of Natai Purba Para and Zakaria, 22, of Gokul area in Sadar upazila.
Among them, Helaluzzaman and Rafiqul Islam received 30 days of imprisonment, while Zakaria was sentenced to 15 days. Additionally, Helaluzzaman was fined Taka 2 lakh.
Executive Magistrate Rashidul Islam of the district administration and Squadron Leader Firoz Ahmed, Company Commander of RAB-12 Bogra, led the operation.
Squadron Leader Firoz Ahmed said that the mobile court was actively enforcing the ban on polythene in the Kalitala area. The seized polythene, weighing 26 tonnes, has an estimated market value of Taka 52 lakh, officials said.
