RANGPUR, Dec 15, 2025 (BSS) - People of Rangpur are ready to celebrate the Victory Day- 2025 with due dignity, great enthusiasm and daylong colorful programmes in the city and elsewhere across the district tomorrow.
The divisional and district administrations, Rangpur City Corporation, Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police, Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP), freedom fighters, political parties and dozens of other organisations have chalked out programmes marking the day.
With the sunrise on December 16, the celebration of the Victory Day 2025 will begin with 31-gun salutes at the Police Lines ground and placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar and in the city.
The national flag will be hoisted atop all government, semi-government and private buildings in the city.
The Divisional Commissioner, Rangpur Range DIG of Bangladesh Police, RpMP Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, high officials and heroic freedom fighters will first place wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Later, leaders of different political parties and sociocultural, professional, business and human rights organisations, educational institutions, NGOs and commoners will place wreaths.
The national flag will be hoisted amid the playing of the national anthem at the Shaheed Abu Sayeed Stadium at 9am.
After that, a rally, march-past and display will be exhibited with the participation of students of educational institutions at the same place.
Heroic freedom fighters and relatives of martyred freedom fighters will be accorded receptions at the District Shilpokola Academy auditorium at 11:30 am tomorrow.
A three-day Victory Fair-2025 will be inaugurated at the Rangpur Zilla School Ground at 12:30 pm.
Under the programmes, drawing and essay writing competitions for children on the War of Liberation and cultural competitions will be arranged at the District Shilpokola Academy auditorium in the city.
In addition, exhibition football matches, T-20 cricket tournaments, kabaddi and ha-du-du games will be arranged at convenient times in all educational institutions at the district and upazila levels.
The District Information Office will screen documentary films on the War of Liberation in cinema halls and open places at convenient times.
Special prayers will be offered seeking divine peace for departed souls of martyrs of the War of Liberation, peace, progress and welfare of the nation and its people at mosques, temples, churches, pagodas and other places of religious worship.
Improved diets will be served to inmates of hospitals, Rangpur Central Jail, shelters of older citizens, day-care and child centers, orphanages, Shishu Paribars and vagabond centers.
