Three business establishments fined in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, Dec 14, 2025 (BSS) - The National Consumer Rights Protection Department fined three business establishments a total of Taka 55,000 for selling open products in packages and storing rotten or stale food during a surveillance operation in the district today.

Abdullah Al Imran, assistant director of the department, imposed the fines during a drive in Old Bazaar commercial area of the district town on Sunday afternoon.

According to Assistant Director Abdullah Al Imran, during the operation, the owner of M/S Satota Bhandar was fined Taka 50,000 for selling cumin, raisins, and spices purchased from the market in packets of other organizations. The owner of Master & Restaurant was fined Taka 2,000 for storing rotten food in the refrigerator, while the owner of Rafiq & Sons was fined Taka 3,000 for failing to provide ripe vouchers while selling onions.

Packets bearing the names and addresses of various organizations were destroyed during the drive. In addition, leaflets and pamphlets were distributed to raise public awareness and encourage compliance with consumer rights regulations.

District Health Inspector Md. Nazrul Islam and members of law enforcement agencies were present during the operation.
