NATORE, Dec 12, 2025 (BSS) - Two sugar mills in Natore-North Bengal Sugar Mills Ltd. and Natore Sugar Mills Ltd. have produced a combined total of 3,360 tonnes of sugar this season by crushing 83,633 tonnes of sugarcane.

On the 34th day of crushing, North Bengal Sugar Mills Ltd. in Gopalpur processed 54,425 tonnes of sugarcane, yielding 2,760 tonnes of sugar. 

Meanwhile, on the 20th day of crushing, Natore Sugar Mills Ltd. in Sadar upazila crushed 29,208 tonnes of cane and produced 600 tonnes of sugar.

North Bengal Sugar Mills Ltd. began operations on 7 November with a target of crushing 200,000 tonnes of sugarcane and producing 13,000 tonnes of sugar this season. 

Mohammad Farid Hossain Bhuiyan, Managing Director of the mill, said the sugar extraction rate has been satisfactory and expressed optimism about achieving the production target by the end of the season.

Natore Sugar Mills Ltd. started its 42nd crushing season on 21 November, aiming to crush 110,000 tonnes of sugarcane and produce 6,930 tonnes of sugar. 

Md. Ekhlasur Rahman, Managing Director of the mill, said efforts are being made to use all production inputs efficiently to meet the target.
