KHULNA, Dec 11, 2025 (BSS) - A mass prayer and munajat seeking the early recovery of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia was held today in Khulna district.
The programme, organized by the Khulna City Unit of BNP, was held at Shahid Hadis Park at 11:30 am. Nazrul Islam Manju, BNP's candidate for the Khulna-2 constituency in the upcoming national election, attended as the chief guest.
Khulna City BNP President Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona presided over the event, while General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin conducted the programme.
Former city mayor and valiant freedom fighter Moniruzzaman Moni, BNP Organizing Secretary Masud Parvez Babu, Hasanur Rashid Chowdhury Miraj, Shahruzzaman Mortaza, Fakhrul Alam, Begum Rehana Isa, Badrul Anam Khan, Sher Alam Santu, among others, attended the event.
Addressing the gathering, BNP leaders said Begum Khaleda Zia remains seriously ill, and prayers for her quick recovery are being held not only across the country but also in different parts of the world by people, irrespective of political affiliation or religious belief.
They noted that the entire nation is awaiting her return to active politics, adding that "when Begum Khaleda Zia is healthy, democracy prevails and people feel safe."
The party leaders said the current political situation is extremely challenging, adding that the upcoming election is not merely another national poll but a crucial part of the struggle to restore democracy in Bangladesh.
