RANGPUR, Dec 11, 2025 (BSS) - The ninth three-day Rangpur Divisional Ijtema of Tablighi Jamaat has begun in the vast Amashu Kukrul Field of Ward No 4 of Rangpur City Corporation area in the metropolis.
The Ijtema activities began with the 'Am Bayan' after the Fajr prayers this morning in presence of thousands of Musollis from all over Rangpur division, other areas of the country and abroad.
In the 'Am Bayan', citing the Holy Quran and Hadith, Islamic scholars mentioned that happiness and peace exist in this world and the hereafter in following the orders and commands of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Talking to BSS, the organizers said that the Ijtema has been taking place in Rangpur city since 2010.
To make the Ijtema a success, various infrastructures including awnings have been erected across the field in the Amashu Kukrul area, water lines and electricity connections and bicycle garages have been built.
Devotees from far and wide can take their places under awnings.
According to the organizing committee, Tablighi Jamaat members from eight districts of Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, and Dinajpur of Rangpur division are participating in this year's Ijtema.
In addition, foreign guests of the Tablighi Jamaat from different countries of the world, including India, Malaysia, and Indonesia have arrived at the field.
Organizing committee member Md Khalequzzaman Raja said that around 200 foreign guests are expected to participate in the Ijtema.
"Although the capacity of the ground is five lakh, this time it is expected that one million devotees will gather," Khalequzzaman Raja hoped.
Muhammad Hafizul Islam, who is in charge of the Ijtema ground, said that devotees started coming to the ground from Wednesday afternoon and everyone stayed there at night.
Along with the cooperation of the Tablighi Jamaat and general public, Rangpur City Corporation, district administration and Rangpur Metropolitan Police are extending necessary assistance and supervising the maintenance of law and order.
Md Shahidul Islam Shahid, a devotee who came to the Ijtema ground from Panchagarh district town on Wednesday night, said that the arrangements made at the Ijtema ground are excellent and laudable.
"I want to adore according to the etiquette and rules of the Ijtema and seek the mercy of Allah Almighty. I want to make myself more adept in religious education. May Allah accept everyone who comes to the Ijtema ground," he said.
Md Shamimuzzaman Shamim, local organizer of the Tablighi Jamaat, said that more than one hundred generators have been kept ready in addition to the electricity connection to keep the Ijtema ground lit.
"Adequate water and taps have been arranged for the devotees for ablution and bathing. About 5,000 people can perform ablution there at a time," he said.
Fifty medical teams have been deployed in the field round the clock to ensure the health care of the devotees.
"To ensure security of the Ijtema, law enforcement agencies have created a multi-layered security zone. In addition to plainclothes police surveillance, a control room has been opened by the police for round-the-clock supervision," he added.
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali told reporters that police are providing all-round cooperation to the volunteers of the organizing committee to complete the three-day Ijtema work smoothly and manage the traffic system.
"A multi-layered security zone has been created after talking to the Ijtema organizers.
Law enforcement officers in plain clothes are on high alert at all times. In addition, the police control room has been opened," he said.
The Ijtema activities will end next Saturday by 12 noon with the 'Akheri Munajats' (final prayer).
