CHATTOGRAM, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS)- Eminent educationist Principal AKM Shamsul 
Alam passed away at a clinic in the city last night.
 
He was 84.
 
Family sources said Shamsul Alam had been suffering from lung cancer for a 
long time and was undergoing treatment at Metropolitan Hospital where he 
breathed his last at about 10 pm. 

He is survived by two sons, two daughters, grandsons and a host of relatives 
and admirers to mourn his death.
 
During his long checkered career, late Shamsul Alam was Principal of 
Chattogram Government Commerce College, Satkania Government College, 
Chandanaish Gasbaria Government College, Chattogram Arts College and Head of 
the Department of English of Chattogram Government College. 

He was also Rector of the Public Administration Training Center at Savar. 
His father late Abdul Gani Master was also a renowned academic and was Head 
Teacher of Aligarh Teachers Training School in India.
 
A large number of educationist, political leaders, professional colleagues 
and students attended his Namaj-e-Zanaja that was held at a field besides PDB 
Colony Mosque in the city's Jamal Khan road after Johr prayers. 

Later, he was buried at Chitonnya Goli graveyard in the city.
