KURIGRAM, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) - Two minor boys drowned in a pond near their house at Jadurchar Notungram village under Roumari upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Shahbab Mondal, 3, son of Shahjahan Mondal of Dhanarchar Notungram, and Abu Toha Mondal, 3, son of Abu Taleb of the same village. The two were cousins.
According to family members, the children were playing in the courtyard of Abu Taleb's house around 7.30 am. Unnoticed by anyone, they slipped into a nearby pond and drowned.

After noticing their absence, relatives began searching for them and eventually discovered them floating in the water. The children were rushed to the hospital, where the attending doctor declared them dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Roumari Police Station Shahnewaz Hossain confirmed the matter.
