RAJSHAHI, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) – Speakers at a meeting here today unequivocally called for forging social movement as well as resistance against corruption to establish disparity-free atmospheres everywhere in the society.

Spontaneous participation of the community and the young generation as a whole towards the anti-corruption campaign has also become indispensable for building mass-opinion against corruption.

Government officials and members of the civil society made the observation while addressing a discussion at Zila Parishad Auditorium in the city.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and District and Divisional Administrations jointly organised the discussion to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day-2025.

This year's theme, “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow's Integrity”, highlights the vital role of young people in building fairer, more transparent societies.

Commissioner of Rajshahi division Dr ANM Bazlur Rashid addressed the meeting as the chief guest while Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Dr Muhammad Shahjahan spoke as special guest with ACC Director Fazlul Haque in the chair.

Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Khorshed Alam, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi0 Afia Akhter and Superintendent of Police Naimul Hassan also addressed the discussion.

The discussants unanimously observed that importance should be given on empowerment of the community to check corruption at institutional and individual level.

Institutional corruptions have to be checked first before taking lawful action against a person who is involved with corruption willingly or unwillingly.

Commissioner Dr Bazlur Rashid underlined the need for building capacity among the community people so that they can raise their voice against corruption.

"It's high time that we have to prevent corruption. We can't keep an uneven path of corruption for our future generation. We want to establish such a country which will be free from corruption," he reiterated.

He laid importance on making both the government and non-government service-delivery activities transparent and accountable to combat corruption.
