NAOGAON, Dec 3, 2025 (BSS) - Winter has begun to make its presence felt across the country, and Naogaon—one of the northern districts—is experiencing a noticeable drop in temperature.
On Wednesday at 9 am, the Badalgachhi Agricultural Meteorological Observatory recorded the season’s lowest temperature in the district at 12.1 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 99 percent. The previous day’s minimum temperature was 13.8 degrees Celsius.
Residents said the cold starts to set in from evening, accompanied by light fog that lingers throughout the night. With sunrise, the chill gradually eases, and by late morning, the sunshine brings a brief period of warmth. Despite today’s low temperature, the sun appeared bright from early morning.
“The weather is sunny during the day, but once evening comes, winter clothes become necessary. Sleeping without a blanket is almost impossible,” said Joynal Abedin of Hapania in Naogaon Sadar upazila.
Sobhan, a van driver from Barunkandi, described the challenges faced by those working outdoors: “Driving becomes difficult because of the cold and the light wind after evening. There was fog until sunrise today. From evening to morning, it’s hard to drive a van, and there are no passengers in the early hours.”
Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of the Badalgachhi Meteorological Observatory, confirmed the drop in temperature, saying, “Today’s minimum temperature was 12.1 degrees Celsius. The temperature has decreased slightly compared to yesterday. It may drop further next week.”
With winter gaining momentum, daily activities in Naogaon are being increasingly disrupted, and residents are bracing for colder days ahead.
