CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Dec 2, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested a youth with 
foreign-made firearms, ammunition and magazines during a special operation in 
Shibganj upazila of the district on Monday evening.

The detainee was identified as Royal Hasan Aranya, 35, a resident of 
Parchouka village under Manaksha union in Shibganj upazila. 

A police team conducted a drive at Rehaychar Toll Plaza area near Bir 
Sreshtho Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir Bridge on the Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid 
highway and arrested Aranya with one foreign-made pistol, five rounds of 
bullets and two magazines from a CNG-run vehicle, said Additional 
Superintendent of Police NM Wasim Firoz.

A case has been filed with Sadar Model Police Station.

While speaking on Tuesday morning, District Superintendent of Police (SP) 
Gautam Kumar Biswas said the operation was carried out as part of the 
police's "zero tolerance" policy against illegal arms, ammunition, drugs, and 
smuggling ahead of the upcoming national elections. 

Such operations will continue to ensure security and maintain law and order, 
he added.
