MADARIPUR, Dec 2, 2025 (BSS) - At least three people were killed and 15 others injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Shibchar this morning.

The accident occurred around 9:15am on a bridge over the Arial Khan River when a Dhaka-bound bus from Bhanga rammed into the rear of a truck, killing one passenger on the spot. Besides, 17 passengers sustained serious injuries and two of them died on the way to hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Shibchar Highway Thana Zahurul Islam confirmed the incident, saying identities of the deceased and injured could not be confirmed immediately.

Quoting local resident Protap Das, police said the bus hit the truck with a loud bang on the Bhanga-Shibchar lane, leaving the front portion of the vehicle extensively damaged.

Police recovered the body and sent them to Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
