RAJSHAHI, Nov 23, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered three firearms and a magazine during an anti-crime drive in the Khayerhat area under Bagha upazila of the district early today.

Acting on a tip-off, a RAB team conducted a raid in the area around 12:30 am and seized a foreign-made pistol, a pipe gun, a one-shooter gun and a magazine, a RAB press release said.

Earlier, on October 27, a gunfight broke out over territorial dominance in Khanpara area of Choddohazar mouza, situated along the bordering regions of Daulatpur in Kushtia, Bagha in Rajshahi and Lalpur in Natore, leaving three people dead. 

A case was later filed with Daulatpur Police Station against gang leader Hasinuzzaman Kakon and his associates.

The group, known as 'Kakon Bahini', has been accused of indiscriminate shootings, murder, looting of crops and sand, as well as kidnapping and extortion.

On November 9, a special joint operation titled 'Operation First Light' was carried out across char areas of the Padma River in Bagha of Rajshahi, Bera and Ishwardi of Pabna, Lalpur of Natore and Daulatpur of Kushtia. A total of 67 members of Kakon Bahini were arrested during the operation.

Ten foreign-made firearms, a large quantity of locally made weapons, narcotics and a motorcycle were also recovered during that drive, the release added.
