KHULNA, Nov 23, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former parliament member Mia Golam Porwar has said Jamaat seeks to build a welfare-oriented state based on justice.

Parwar said his party wants to build a state "where people from all walks of life including children, youths, women, elderly and professionals will have their needs addressed, and where no one will lose their life over extortion or be driven to suicide due to unemployment."

He was addressing a voters' rally as chief guest on Saturday evening at Dhakuria Government School ground of Phultala Sadar Union.

Parwar said that young voters will play a decisive role in forming the next government. "Out of nearly 13 crore voters, about 4.5 crore are youths, and the future government will be elected largely through their mandate," he added.

Earlier, speaking with journalists after addressing a women voters' rally, he said the five-point demand of the Islamist parties will continue to guide their ongoing movement, including divisional rallies across major cities.

He said that holding a referendum on the election day would confuse voters, adding that necessary amendments should be placed before the people through a referendum first.

Parwar alleged that the Chief Adviser is being "misguided" and stressed that the interim government must take decisions to resolve the current political crisis.

He further said a level playing field has not yet been created as the administration is still obeying the directives of a particular political group.

Parwar urged voters, regardless of party, belief or background, to support the "Daaripalla" (Scale) symbol in the upcoming national election to help establish a just state.

Earlier, a women voters' gathering was held at Atara Srinath High School playground with Ward President Maulana Sarowar Hossain in the chair.

District Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman and Assistant Secretary Prof Mia Golam Kuddus addressed as special guests.

Speakers also included Khanjahan Ali Thana Ameer Dr Syed Hasan Mahmud Tito, UP member Hafiz Golam Mostafa and Farhad Hossain.
