KHULNA, Nov 22, 2025 (BSS) - In a bid to make Khulna city free from traffic
congestion, Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) has taken a unique initiative
under its Traffic Division, providing structured training to easy-bike
drivers on proper road behavior.
So far, 7,034 drivers have already received the training.
As part of the programme, a training session was held at the Joragate Traffic
Office today where Police Inspector (City and Vehicles) Mohammad Zahirul
Islam conducted a multimedia presentation explaining the do's and don'ts of
driving.
Practical demonstrations, video clips and still images were used to enhance
understanding of road safety, said Zahirul Islam.
The training covered rules on passenger boarding and drop-off, overtaking,
benefits of keeping the left lane clear, importance of complying with traffic
laws, concepts of high- and low-speed lanes, measures to reduce congestion,
techniques to avoid accidents and emergency responses.
Drivers were also advised not to accept food from strangers, avoid deserted
roads after dark, refrain from taking unfamiliar long-distance trips, and
remain cautious if a masked or suspicious individual boards the vehicle.
They were encouraged to use GPS to track location for safety, maintain
maximum awareness, and immediately inform authorities through the national
emergency service 999 or local police if needed.
Easy-bike drivers welcomed the initiative and expressed appreciation for the
effort to develop a disciplined traffic environment.
KMP hopes that the successful implementation of the training and compliance
with the rules by drivers will bring remarkable improvement to the traffic
situation in the city.
