BAGERHAT, Nov 22, 2025 (BSS) - High-yielding paddy seeds have been distributed among 1,000 marginal farmers in Mongla upazila of the district to strengthen local agricultural productivity.
The distribution event was held on Friday night at Saheber Math marking the birthday of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
BNP Central Research Secretary Krishibid Shamimur Rahman Shami attended the event as chief guest.
In his speech, he said farmers could significantly reduce production costs and increase yields by using short-duration, high-yield rice varieties.
Shami emphasized that the development of agriculture and the welfare of working people are essential to building a sustainable national economy. He called for coordinated initiatives to further strengthen the country's agricultural sector.
Obaidul Hawlad, president of the Mongla Upazila Krishak Dal, presided over the event.
Former central Chhatra Dal vice-president Abdul Halim Khokon, municipal BNP general secretary Mahabubur Rahman Manik, former municipal Jubo Dal president Emran Hossain, former district Chhatra Dal joint convener Mehedi Hasan Mithu, Mongla Municipal Volunteer Party member secretary Nur Uddin Tutul, district vice-president of Arafat Rahman Koko Sports Association Mahasin Patwary, Mongla Upazila Koko Sports Association general secretary Mehedi Hasan Sabuj, and municipal Koko Sports Association general secretary Sehel Hawladar were present.
