RANGPUR, Nov 19, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 has arrested the main accused in the case of killing an old man and tying his body to an electric wire in Gangachara model police station from the Kutirghat area in the district. 
 
The arrested accused in the sensational murder case, is Md Tayeb Ali, 36, son of late Chatku Mia of village Dakshin Betgari Shahpara under Gangachara model police station of Rangpur district, said a press release this evening. 
 
The release said that arrested accused Md Tayeb Ali and his co-accused had a sequel, argument and push-pull with the victim Saju Mia about six months ago regarding financial transactions. 
 
Due to this, the arrested man and his co-accused called the victim through a mobile phone, took him to an unknown place and killed him in a pre-planned manner and tied the victim's body to an electric wire to divert the death at 07.30 pm on May 17, 2025.
 
The victim's son came to know through the police station on May 18, 2025 at 03.00 pm that the body of his father Saju Mia was found at a nearby place under Kaliganj police station of Lalmonirhat district.
 
Later, the victim's son filed a murder case at Gangachara model police station on August 5, 2025 in the incident.
 
Based on secret information, a smart team of RAB-13's Rangpur Sadar Company arrested the main accused Md Tayeb Ali from the Kutirghat area on the banks of the Ghagot River under Gangachara model police station in Rangpur at 6:30 pm on Tuesday.
 
The arrested accused has been handed over to Gangachara model police station in Rangpur for legal action.
