NAOGAON, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) - Mominpur market, a wholesale market in Mahadevpur upazila under the district, has become a trading hub of green chilli with Taka 2.50 crore trading volume every month.

Talking to BSS, traders mentioned that the chilli from this market go to different districts of the country, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Chattogram.

Raw chili is being sold at Taka 60-70 per kg in this market, they added.

 
Two days ago, the price was Taka 130-150 per kg, they said.

Farmers Soleman Ali and Gulbar Rahman from Kunjaban area of Mahadevpur said that the yield of green chilli has been good this year due to favorable weather conditions.

But, the amount they have sold so far will not cover the wages of the workers and the cost of pesticides due to the fall in the price, they added. 

Momnipur Hat Committee member Mamunur Rashid said that this is the largest green chilli market in the district.

"This market runs for six to seven months a year. And the sale of green chilli is Taka 20 to 25 million every month," he added.
