BOGURA, May 15, 2025 (BSS) - Bogura District unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held an emergency meeting this afternoon aiming to discuss the growing political tension and upcoming organizational programs.
The meeting, convened at the district party office on Nababbari Road at 4:00 pm, was presided over by District BNP President Rezaul Karim Badsha.
Speakers at the meeting alleged that the "fascist Hasina regime" had resorted to conspiracies aimed at dismantling the BNP.
They said the incidents of extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, politically motivated lawsuits and attacks on party leaders and workers had been occured.
The leaders condemned the continued imprisonment of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia under "fabricated cases" and criticized the actions taken against acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife.
Despite these challenges, they praised Tarique Rahman for his "visionary leadership" in keeping the party united and active.
The meeting also reviewed upcoming organizational activities, including the observance of the 44th martyrdom anniversary of party founder and former President Ziaur Rahman on May 30.
They discussed the ongoing party membership renewal drive and highlighted the recent success of BNP affiliate bodies - Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal - in organizing seminars and youth rallies in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, the seminar on “Thinking of Youths” to be held in Bogura on May 23 and 24.
Besides, the meeting emphasized the importance of campaigning for BNP-backed candidates in the forthcoming Bogura Motor Workers Union elections.
