NOAKHALI, March 27, 2024 (BSS) - Two siblings drowned in a pond at Rameshwapur village of Chaprashirhat union under Kabirhat upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as Bibi Fatema Begum, 7, and her brother Abid Hossain, 4, children of Abdul Hai, resident of the same area.

According to locals the two children died after falling into the pond next to their house while washing their hands and faces around 8am. 

The family members rescued them and took them to the upazila health complex where the on-duty doctor declared them dead, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kabirhat Police Station Humayan Kabir said.

Chairman of Chaprashirhat Union Parishad Mohiuddin Titu confirmed the matter.
