CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Oct 26, 2023 (BSS) - A court here on Wednesday afternoon sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment in a drug trading case.

The court also fined convict Touhidul Islam, 29, son of Robiul Alam of Digha Miapara village under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district, Taka 50,000, in default, to suffer one more year in jail.

Chapainawabganj senior session judge Md. Adeeb Ali announced the verdict in presence of the convict.
 
According to prosecution, on a tip-off, an operation team of RAB-5 conducted a raid at Kalupur Graveyard area in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila on April 9, 2020 and arrested Touhid and Babu with 1.010 kg heroin.

On the same day, sub-inspector Abdul Momin of RAB-5 filed a case with Sadar Police Station accusing both.

Investigating officer (IO) of the case sub-inspector Aminul Islam submitted charge-sheet to the court against them on May 22, 2020.

After hearing the witnesses the court handed down the punishment.

Babu, another accused of the case, was acquitted as the charges brought against him were not proved.
